10 sacks of coal in one half ton. One sack of coal = 1
hundredweight = 1 cwt = 112 lb.

Thanks - they said a specially reinforced ambulance had to be constructed to
take him to hospital, I was trying to visualise that.

Plenty of pictures of ambulances, but apart from double doors at the back
they're just another ambulance - I was hoping for a little technical detail.
