Just bought a couple of 2D Cree LED torches at a nice price, so I'm looking
for the cheapest source of alkaline "D" cells?

Thanks.

The German supermarkets like Aldi, Netto and Lidl usually have keen prices
on alkaline batteries. Failing that, my fall-back position is Morrisons or
Tesco. It is good to see another torch aficionado. My wife can't understand
my obsession with torches. But come the next power cut I will be vindicated!

Lidl were out of stock of D cells on the day I bought the torches from them.

No, that's new to me. Looks good - some serious discussion about torches!
Christmas is coming - we stick notes on the fridge door for our wish lists -
I am going to put a couple of torches on mine although my family say I have
enough. I mean, how can anyone have enough torches?

I think I have sufficient now.

On purchasing the last 3 beam type LED torches, I gave the cheap LED torch
it replaced to a relative.

One of the <*> bargains stores has a pack of 2xD Duracell for £1.99 so 2
sets of batteries for the 3D torch is only sick-squid.

That's for torches that get used for short periods infrequently.

There are uses that a set of rechargeables get used up in a few days - for
that the old NiMh with high self discharge are not a problem.

Meanwhile I can bide my time until Lidl have low self discharge one's going
cheap.
