Is there anywhere that I can find a list of UK energy prices?
I DON'T want the comparison sites, I want a list of each company and
the price per KWh that they charge.

I've tried http://www.berr.gov.uk/files/file49203.pdf and it has far
too much info for me. I want to get away from nPower and its dozens of
different tariffs to a company that charges x pence per unit.

Energy tariffs are far too complicated for that. Nearly all companies either
have 2 bands (ie first x units at one rate, rest at another), or a standing
charge. The price is different depending on payment method, on whether it's
online or not, on what type of meter you have, on where in the country you are
in, on whether you have dual fuel or not, on whether you want a capped/fixed
rate, and on what your shoe size is.

www.ebico.co.uk are the only one I know who have a simple x pence per unit
tariff regardless of any of the above. But unless you are very low user they are
likely to be more expensive than the competition.

Be aware that EBICO are Southern Electric if you buy gas or electric. You
get a
bill with Southern Electric, not EBICO! The price per unit is not something
you will
ever find accurately. NPOWER were slammed for overcharging thousands of
people
last year on their two tier system of payments. EBICO were one company that
promised NO rises for at least 12months a few years ago - then increased
charges
after 8 months and sent a letter to customers apologising for their breach
of contract.
Companies will refuse to display price per KWH as people wouldn't go near
them.
Southern Electric/EBICO increased their electric price from 9.97p to 13.9p
per unit
in just 18 months.
Avoid price comparison sites as they are "paid to push" certain companies,
they are
never a true independant reflection of prices.
What always makes me laugh is why people stayed with British Gas when they
did a
180% increase in 12months!!! Then the idiots who PAY EXTRA to keep their
price
per unit the same for a year, then get hit by a 200%+ increase after the
year. So think
of all that extra money paid when it would have been far far cheaper to
switch.
Always ignore advice from Martyn Lewis as his advice is wrong and he said so
on
BBC breakfast time TV when challenged by a caller. He is sponsored and his
credibilty
hit an all time low when he advised people to invest in a Bank in *NIGERIA*
!
He is consistently wrong with advice he gives and has cost people hundreds
per year.
If I had switched when he said, I would have been £400 out of pocket.
Thanks
Martyn Lewis for your bad advice, no doubt BG pay him like other companies
he tries
to promote.

I wish you luck, if you were an NPOWER customer for gas ensure you make your
claim NOW for the amount they overcharged last year.

I have recently moved into this house and both gas and electricity are
on Npower who would you recommend ? we where with British gas at the
old house and had arranged to move to BG here but BG tried to pull a
fast one regarding the bill they sent from the old house so we have
told them where to go.
Was with E-on and moved to BG due to E-on sending wrong bills so just
who is reasonably priced and reliable these days ? .

Eh? They have their prices on their websites.

They aren't perfect, but they are usually pretty good. They do still list the
companies which refuse to pay them commission, in the right order, but obviously
they don't handle the switch to such companies for you.

How do *you* find the best deal then?

What, always?

Like the Motley Fool, sometimes his advice is crap but most of the time it's
pretty good, at least for people who are not well clued up financially.

Complete bullshit. He may be wrong sometimes, but he's not *consistently* wrong.
His advice is usually good. Certainly better than those who fail to understand
that a credit card credit limit is, erm, a credit limit and not a monthly
spending limit ;-)

Can you cite some reference for that? A quick google didn't find anything...
