Leave well alone bought the Melt&Grill model from Comet at the weekend
after 30 minutes it hadn't started to melt the cheese on the cheese
and toast which according to the blurb the machine is supposed to cook
excellently.
If you read what others have said about them on the comet site ( which
I didn't before buying) most are saying the grills are total rubbish .

They never used to be, I have friends who seem to live off them most of the
time.
Could there be a faulty batch out there?

Cheese not melted in 30 min, agreed, it sounds like a faulty machine IMO. I
would return to Comet and demand they replace it. No reviews on Amazon for
the 14181 model, but 6 out of 7 positive replies for the 13622

Took back to Comet refund obtained and never again shall any Forman
product enter our door ,it cost money to go and buy the product and
have to take it back again probably a gallon of fuel in my case and an
hour of my time .

I had something similar in the 80's, it was useless because the outside of
the food cooked and left the inside raw.
I know some people eat meat which is uncokked in the middle and has blood
and body fluids running from it, but that isn't for me.
It's not just that particular make with a problem.

Ha ha yes I like to have food like bacon etc cremated not just waved
over the pan or under the grill and straight onto the plate :))))))
which is why I never order bacon etc in a snack bar or cafe invariably
it is always served half cooked .

Yeh, but if you like your steaks cooked through then why use a
grill. Casserole them instead. The whole point of grilling is to
cremate them (your words) on the outside while leaving them
half raw on the inside.

My George Forman does the job. I like steaks rare while my
wife wants them well done. So I leave her meat in a little longer
but the end result of this is that my meat is tender while hers goes
like leather.

And then she complains.
