Airmail to USA

If there's a more appropriate group for this query could someone give me a
pointer please. Meanwhile:

I was dismayed to find that I've apparently already missed the deadline
(10th Dec) for airmail to the USA. I may still optimistically send my
packet (a few Christmas cards and a DVD ) and use the Royal Mail's AirSure
service to gain a day at extra expense. Anyone with any feedback on this
please?

Or with any more information about chances of Christmas delivery to USA on
airmail sent this coming week? Is it a lost cause, or was that official
date of 10th Dec deliberately generous?

The official date is deliberately generous. Post it today and there's a
reasonably good chance it will arrive in time. Using Airsure would be a
good idea if you want to maximise the probability of that.

Having said that, the US is a big place and it does make a difference where
it's going. If the destination is in or near a major city then you've got a
very good chance of it arriving in time. If it's going to a small town in
the middle of the flyover states then the probability is much lower.

Thanks Mark. Designation San Diego, so that's reassuring. But haven't
finished preparing the packet yet, reckon Tuesday morning (14th) earliest,
so it's going to be iffy!
